Magazine Spread

We were to create a prototype for a magazine of any topic, I chose to create a home decor magazine. We needed to complete a cover design, a table of contents, one article spread, and a subscription card insert. I created a mature and modern magazine design that could be used with many different housing styles. The magazine could display these styles inside it, and it would still flow cohesively with each issue.

Booklet

We were to choose an organization, business, or cause that was important to us and create an 8-page booklet. I chose the Sierra Club; this organization plans trips to different parts of the world to plant trees and help fight against deforestation. With this booklet I wanted to convey that deforestation affects everyone and everything on this plant, and helping to fix this issue is everyone’s responsibility. I also wanted the readers to do more research about how they can help and share the information they learned with others.

Brochure

We were to create a multi-fold brochure, outside and inside, for a company chosen in a previous project. Tresses and Tats was the company I chose, and had already designed the logo, mood boards, colour palette, and brand. I wanted the reader of this brochure to know that this company is edgy, professional, and is a safe environment for women. I also thought answering some of the most asked questions for a tattoo artist would make this brochure a good resource for the viewer and potential client.

Cookbook

We were to design a cookbook spread that showcased colour and style. I wanted this cookbook to be fun, bright, and have the reader wanting to make all the cookies in this book. I chose the name The Cookie Jar so that readers, at a glance, would know exactly what all the recipes would be about. When I thought about what cookie recipe I wanted displayed in this spread, I thought of a sweet lemon sugar cookie. The colour palette I chose for this project was heavily influenced by this recipe, but would also work with other cookie recipes as well.
